I usually do some “research” when making a theme cake to study the characters and key design elements. Through the eyes of an adult…this is a weird show! Lot’s of strange looking characters with funny names, unidentifiable objects, poor infection control (only those of you who’ve watched enough will get this one), and no real plot line. But the more I think about it, this is exactly the life of a toddler! And this is when I have one of those “ah-ha” moments…life doesn’t make sense! We meet all kinds of people who are different than us that we will bump into and try to make sense of what they’re saying. Sometimes our days are sun-filled and flowery and sometimes we are out drifting on an open sea in the dark. If we can just learn to enjoy the time we have together, find comfort cuddled up with a blankie, and realize that eventually we all drift back to the shore, maybe we can gain back the innocence of our youth!
This is why this was a special cake for Talan’s 1st birthday. In the Night Garden is his favourite show…and Iggle Piggle is his best bud. Great Auntie Noreen, aside from being a fantastic nurse and an amazing person, knows what it means to enjoy every moment and spend them with her family and those she loves the most! AND she knows how to go completely over the top to make everyday special!
Lori, What an AMAZING cake you made for our special little man. Talan was toally enthralled with his Night Garden cake , and the rest of the guests could not get over what amazing talent and skill you have been blessed with.
